Vural Yilmaz

Vural Yılmaz, who first introduced Turkey to the Apple brand, founded Bilkom in 1980, serving as its General Manager and a Member of the Board of Directors until 1995. During the same period, he also became the Founding General Manager of Apple Computer Turkey. From 1984 to 1993, he acted as General Manager of Microsoft Turkey. After playing a pioneering role in expanding computer access both for institutions and the wider public in Turkey, he went on to serve as Chairman of the Board and General Manager of CompuCom between 1995 and 2007. From 2004 to 2008, he was Chairman of the Board of Altera A.Ş., the distributor of Palm handheld computers and mobile phones in Turkey.

In addition to his key roles in technology management in Turkey, Vural Yılmaz has also been actively involved in academia and civil society. From 2009 onwards, he served for ten years as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Advisor to the Rector at Istanbul Kültür University. Elected Chairman of the Board of TÜBİSAD (Turkish Informatics Industry Association) in 1998, he has been a Member of the Board of the Turkish Informatics Foundation since 2002.
