In this context, the consortium, formed by the most important Spatial Data Providers and software developers of our country, under the leadership of one of the leading Telecom infrastructure companies of our country, and companies and universities contributing to different areas of expertise within the Smart City concept (on a wide scale from IoT to cameras, from spatial data to cyber security), will provide support in the project writing and necessary documentation stages of the national fund application process.
It is crucial to be informed about funding opportunities available in Turkey and the European Union, especially before embarking on large-scale innovation projects. Numerous funds and grant opportunities are available to encourage the use of new and clean technologies by official authorities. The authorities' fundamental approach is based on supporting diverse companies to collaborate and jointly implement these projects in areas where governments are insufficient to invest directly.
TÜBİTAK has long supported collaborations in strategic areas. With the project outlined above, over 30 companies have come together under the Smart City concept, combining their specialized services and projects. The resulting product and each component of the product are designed to contribute to the Smart Cities concept and accelerate Turkey's position in global markets. Support was provided to the companies involved in the project in identifying and writing their projects, and in coordinating them with other stakeholders.

Funding the Smart City Project
Technological advancements and the impacts of the climate crisis have highlighted the need for effective management of the components that make up a city, especially in densely populated cities. From infrastructure projects to Spatial Information Systems (GIS), from IoT data to the integration of data obtained from UAVs, the optimal management of all this big data, both physically and through cybersecurity efforts, is becoming increasingly crucial. "Smart City" projects that address big data naturally require large budgets, leading them to prioritize grant-funded projects.
